D&A College Prospectus 2024-25
building skills
There’s more to a building than construction. To make buildings work, we need good design, plumbing and power. Whether you’re pursuing a career in architecture, civil engineering, plumbing or electrics, our facilities and staff can provide you with the skills and confidence to succeed. For would-be architects and civil engineers, our Built Environment space incorporates a specialist craft lab while students also head outside to test surveying equipment in different weather conditions. For all-things theory, our recently upgraded computer suite is geared towards group working and sharing ideas. Meanwhile, within Building Services, plumbing students master their skills within workshops incorporating dedicated gas areas, a training room with cylinders and boilers, and a solar room with roof-mounted panels for exploring solar energy. Bright sparks can also perfect their skills in our electrical workshops where we’ve got space for apprentices to build working electrical installations, alongside an electrical testing suite for students to carry out simulated tests in a safe and protected environment.
Buildings can’t function in isolation. From planning and design through to plumbing and power, we’re geared up to shape highly-skilled, sought after and work ready tradespeople to make buildings work!
