Love outdoors and the natural environment? Consider a career in horticulture or agriculture & estates. Interested in working with animals? We have hands on courses to suit a range of interests, including working with zoo animals. Learn practical techniques alongside the theory behind horticultural, agricultural and landscaping practices, with the opportunity to take part in work-based Modern Apprenticeships. Animal Care programmes span all levels. Begin by focusing on handling, health and welfare and as you progress, you’ll study more technical subjects from nutrition to applied behaviour. Work alongside keepers in a real zoo in our Zoo Studies work experience unit. What does it involve? Where will it take me? Horticulture and Agriculture & Estates gives you access to employment or the choice to study at higher levels with organisations like Scotland's Rural College. You can progress to study a distance learning HNC in Horticulture at University of the Highlands and Islands with our support and practical work experience. Our Animal Care courses allow you to progress into work or further study, such as Veterinary Nursing. Through articulation agreements, HNC/HND students can transition to the second/third year of certain science degrees at Scottish universities.
