The Skills Academy is a partnership we are very excited to be a part of at Michelin Scotland Innovation Parc (MSIP), building on the strong legacy of Dundee and Michelin. Working alongside university and industry partners, the Skills Academy will offer a wide range of courses for learners at all levels, either currently working or looking to work in the sustainable mobility and decarbonisation sectors, to create a skilled future workforce to support Scotland's net zero ambitions.

Funding from the SeagreenWind Energy Limited (SWEL) fund fromSSE Renewables, has allowed the creation of Skills for the Future Labs within our Engineering Partnership Innovation Centre in Arbroath, and MSIP Skills Academy in Dundee. The Seagreen wind farmoff the Angus coast is set to become Scotland’s largest offshore wind farm, and will require a workforce spanning technical, operations and safety. The Labs will support the development and delivery of a STEM pathway, providing primary, secondary, further and higher education and industry with the opportunities to develop the knowledge, understanding and skills for careers in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) .

We have joined forces with key organisations from across the region, including Angus Council, in the Tay Cities Engineering Partnership (TCEP) to drive the transformation of manufacturing processes required tomeet the ambitions of The Fourth Industrial Revolution. The collaboration includes the formation of the Engineering Partnership Innovation Centre (EPIC) on our Arbroath campus, a state-of-the-art centre providing the necessary skills and training opportunities to develop the engineers of the future.

We are proud to work in partnership with Crown Estate Scotland to help inspire the green workforce of the future at the clean growth enterprise hub, ZeroFour, in Montrose. ZeroFour aims to become a national centre of excellence, helping the development of clean energy industries, and is expected to create hundreds of opportunities in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) related industries as well the skills needed to guarantee that our region is well-prepared to deliver the transition to net zero.

We have installed plastic roads and carparks using recycled plastics, removed the sale of plastic bottled drinks and installed access to free mains water stations. We were the first college in Scotland to install Deposit Return Scheme machines to promote plastic and aluminium recycling and have replaced all take-away containers with compostable products which are composted on site. Over the next 8 years we will look to replace all of our gas fired heating systems with sustainable technologies. Replacing gas systems with sustainable technologies will also assist with one of our key objectives of working towards achieving net zero for our Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions by 2030. We have alsomade a commitment since 1st April 2022 to have all of our electricity supplied via only renewable Scottish windfarm sources. The Climate Emergency will be a fundamental element of your course while studying at Dundee and Angus College as we work to embedding sustainability into all areas of the curriculum using UN Sustainable Development Goals as a benchmark and indicator. Earlyyearseducation is morethanchild’splay. Whether you choose to study in Arbroath or at Gardyne, you’ll develop skills, values and experience through fun, interactive and practical exercises and activities. At Gardyne, our collection of spaces are designed to echo nurturing, engaging and child- centred real-life settings where you’ll learn by doing and going back to the basics of play. Complementing our indoor classrooms brought to life by soft furnishings, sensory materials, natural objects and colour, you can head outdoors for some fresh air play, where you’ll discover the importance of nature, exploration and discovery, whether building dens, painting or going on a scavenger hunt. Similar facilities exist in Arbroath, frommusic and construction areas to arts and crafts and outdoor spaces. There’s also the chance to experience placements within our own nursery and others across the public, private and voluntary sectors. A whole world of learning awaits!
